Many free and paid web site creation services offer only ready-made templates to choose from, and to modify - often within very strict parameters. Even so, some of those templates are appealing and once a user knows what he wants, it may not take too long to assemble a web site.

While the upside of many of these modules is speed, the obvious downside is a lack of creativity and flexibility, combined with dependency on the templates provided, and facing the choice of the lesser evil from several not-quite-suitable templates. In other words, you'll be fed several options. If you're in a rush, this may be suitable but not necessarily rewarding.

Web pages created from blank allow the user to totally express her taste and ideas, to experiment, to blend, and to create. They do take longer to build but this mode is easy and intuitive to learn ; results can be very rewarding and faster than expected.

Perhaps the most important part of creating a web site is planning its structure, the "skeleton" of yoru web page. (The flesh [ text and graphics ] comes later .). You'll need to know not only what information and features you want to offer, but also how you want to divide it up, and how you'll logically connect the different parts. For greater flexibility, we have made your life easier by permitting up to 15 pages.

The page list was assembled based on thorough research, and reflects the top 15 of the most often used page names. In addition, some of these link names (for example: Resources, Solutions, Departments, etc.) can stand in for almost any use. If you still need a special page name, contact us.

We repeat our recommendation: plan your web site structure first. Then choose as many of the page buttons from the "Choose your Pages" list as you need, by clicking the applicable check boxes.

All checked page names will appear as buttons just below the Create Module. They will be horizontally displayed but you can move them around, rearrange them, even place them vertically, and (though it's not recommended.) even scatter them on your pages for that "casual look" (for brave souls only). If you choose more than 7 buttons, the eighth button and the following buttons will appear in the next row.

You can uncheck a link box (=delete a page link) any time. The applicable button will disappear. You can check the same link again, or choose another link, any time, for full flexibility.

Another cool feature! Since the Powwwerpages Web Creator lets you move and rearrange your page menu buttons manually, you may want to make sure they're in a straight horizontal or vertical line. These buttons will do just that. Just click Horizontal Align, the buttons will be exactly aligned.

For Vertical Align, you must first approximately prearrange your buttons vertically, then click Vertical Align to get exact alignment. (For that "disheveled" look, scatter your buttons anywhere on your pages and click the Save/Update button without using the align function. As stated above, this is not recommended, but if you are adventurous, go ahead and make your own day).

You'll now need to know what you want to display, and how. Will you show images? How do you display text? Horizontally across, or in smaller, vertical boxes? You should have a good idea of all that before you start to design your pages ; it will save you time. If you are not sure, try to visit a few web sites related to your industry. We do not advocate copying anything but you might get inspired by what you see.

Colors, fonts, and other style choices will probably be easier to improvise and create on the spot.

After you've created a Text Box, some of the steps are chronologically interchangeable. For example, you can move a text box first, and then resize it - or vice versa. Or you can type your text first, and then choose font, styles, colors, etc. - or vice versa. The help menu order you see here is simply based on our recommended order which in turn is based on what most users will likely do.

To "fine-move" text box: : Left-click text box, then hold down Ctrl button and click arrows on your keyboard, depending on direction, and as often as needed. For faster and more accurate text box management, all text boxes have an invisible border (limit) to the right, left, and top of the page, so you can drag to the limit very quickly.

To resize a text box: left-click it, then hold down Ctrl+Shift while using mouse to pull or push right and / or bottom of text box to enlarge / shrink text box horizontally / vertically.

To fine-resize text box: left-click text box, then hold down Ctrl+Shift while using right or down arrows to enlarge horizontally / vertically, and left / up arrows to shrink horizontally / vertically .

Powwwertip: you can't enlarge / shrink a text or image box to / from the left and to / from the top. Instead of enlarging box to the left / to the top, you can first move the box to the left / to the top and then enlarge to the right / to the bottom.

Powwwertip: It helps to first drag and resize text boxes to approximate position / size, then enter and design text, and then fine-tune the text size and position if needed.

Powwwertip: To better fit your text, either simply resize text box (faster and more accurate) or resize text (graphically more appealing)

Powwwertip: For added effect and to vary styles and colors, you can drag text boxes into each other. The most recently created one will be in the foreground.
